1. Tulsa Police searching for unknown suspect after man shot 4 times (ktul.com) — Tulsa police are investigating after a 29-year-old man was shot four times early Sunday at the Edenwood Apartments near North Hartford and East Virgin. The victim is expected to survive, but officers say he cannot identify the shooter and no eyewitnesses have come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact Tulsa Crime Stoppers and can remain anonymous.
2. Elderly Tulsa woman out more than $10k after being tricked into buying the wrong AC system (newson6.com) — A Tulsa senior lost more than $10,000 after a California company with a name similar to a local business sold her an oversized AC system at a steep markup. Hope Heating and Air is fixing the installation and warning residents to research contractors, watch for high-pressure sales, and remember Oklahoma's three-day contract cancellation window.
3. 'We all can soar': Tulsa non-profit providing free therapy help for families (kjrh.com) — A Tulsa nonprofit called Soaring Eagles is offering free therapy-focused support and empowerment programs for children and families, especially those facing intergenerational trauma in North Tulsa. Founder Premadonna Braddick is also hosting the second annual "Lift Every Voice" conference at Legacy Plaza in September, bringing together diverse cultural leaders to share healing approaches, all at no cost thanks to local partners.
4. Come alone, leave with friends: Inside Tulsa Girls Social Club (tulsaflyer.org) — Women in Tulsa looking to expand their social circle are finding connection through the Tulsa Girls Social Club, which now hosts about 10 events a month around the metro. From walks at Owen Park to coffee dates and fitness classes, organizers emphasize racial and age diversity while planning to become a nonprofit to better support Tulsa communities and local businesses.
5. Firefighters battle Sunday night fire near Jones Airport (fox23.com) — Fire crews from Tulsa and Jenks spent Sunday night battling a large blaze near Jones Airport that engulfed a building and multiple travel trailers. With limited hydrant access and a power-line hazard, firefighters had to find alternate water sources and cut power to the area. The fire was contained after explosions and spread to nearby vegetation, and no injuries were reported.
