📰 News we're reading

1. Loose dogs trigger second mail suspension for north Tulsa neighborhood (fox23.com) — Neighbors along North Irvington Avenue in north Tulsa have had home mail delivery suspended again because of loose dogs, forcing many elderly and disabled residents to pick up essential documents at a postal station. City officials and USPS say they're working with Tulsa Animal Welfare on a solution, but residents feel ignored and want basic mail and animal control services restored safely.

2. Teachers union raises heat concerns as Tulsa schools work to fix cooling problems (newson6.com) — Tulsa Public Schools is scrambling to fix widespread air-conditioning failures, with about 180 HVAC work orders and roughly 65 school sites affected as classrooms reach the 80s and 90s. The Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association is monitoring conditions and may ask the superintendent to close some schools if temperatures stay dangerously high, while the district deploys contractors, portable units, and fans.

3. Woodward Park azalea bed & pond renovations almost complete, area to reopen in November (newson6.com) — Woodward Park's azalea beds and ponds on the northwest corner are nearing completion after a $6.7 million stormwater and beautification overhaul, with reopening expected in November. Tulsa Parks and the Tulsa Garden Center are also planning expanded horticulture education, aiming to make the park more accessible and useful for neighborhood residents and garden clubs.

4. TCC celebrates new aviation learning spaces (tulsaworld.com) — Tulsa Community College has expanded aviation learning spaces at its Riverside Community Campus, including adding a second air traffic control simulator to meet rising enrollment. The upgrades, supported by grants and local philanthropy, give Tulsa‑area students more hands‑on simulation time and classroom flexibility as they prepare for in‑demand aviation and air traffic control careers.

5. KRMG Completes Move to 96.5 FM in Tulsa (barrettmedia.com) — If you listen to KRMG on FM in Tulsa, you'll now need to tune to 96.5 instead of 102.3 as the station upgrades to a stronger 100,000‑watt signal. The move, part of a broader reshuffle by Zoellner Media Group, is meant to improve coverage and accessibility for Tulsa‑area listeners and advertisers.
