1. New traffic signals mark latest investment along North Peoria Avenue (newson6.com) — New traffic signals are now live at North Peoria Avenue and East Mohawk Boulevard, marking the latest safety and economic investment in North Tulsa. The Vision-funded Peoria Connection project is adding lighting, trees, sidewalks, and other upgrades to make the corridor safer and more inviting for residents, businesses, and kids walking or biking through the neighborhood.
   

2. Restaurant owner recounts the moment armed suspect and victim barreled inside his business (kjrh.com) — A North Tulsa wing restaurant briefly turned into a crime scene when an armed suspect chased a victim inside and was ultimately shot by Tulsa police, who say he fired at officers first. Owner Kenny Smith describes hiding customers, relying on faith, and now upgrading security, while stressing his business wasn't targeted and remains open to serve the community.
   

3. BeHeard Movement partners with local food group to feed unhoused neighbors (kjrh.com) — A Tulsa nonprofit, the BeHeard Movement, is teaming up with local caterer Food by the Riveras to serve a special free meal to unhoused neighbors on October 25. Founder Angie Najera, who once experienced homelessness herself, is inviting residents to donate non-perishable food or buy meals to help fund chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans that feel more like home-cooked comfort than typical outreach fare.
   

4. Heat index nears 110 for Union's Friday night game (newson6.com) — Union High's Friday night football game at Tuttle Stadium in Tulsa pushed players and fans through a heat index near 110 degrees, with turf temperatures even hotter. Coaches and student leaders stressed week-long hydration, rest, and nutrition, and officials warn anyone outdoors around Tulsa this extended weekend to prioritize water and heat safety.
   

5. Frisbee finds his place as All Saints Catholic School's first therapy dog (newson6.com) — A three-year-old therapy dog named Frisbee is now comforting students at All Saints Catholic School in Broken Arrow, after training that included volunteering at Tulsa International Airport and local nursing homes. As the first therapy dog in a Diocese of Tulsa school, he's helping kids manage tough days, rewarding focused classrooms, and quickly becoming a beloved part of the school community.
