Tulsa, OK - The University of Tulsa Dining team had its own moment in the national spotlight when ESPN's SportsCenter returned to campus on Thursday, October 1, bringing an opportunity for Head Chef Mychal Spriggs and his culinary team to share their talents with a national television audience.
The broadcast marked ESPN's second visit to the university in two years, following a previous appearance on November 14, 2024.
With game day preparations already underway, the TU Dining team added a special assignment to its busy schedule: preparing Oktoberfest-inspired bratwurst for SportsCenter hosts Matt Barrie and Chase Daniel to sample live on air.
Under the direction of Head Chef Spriggs, the team prepared the German-inspired favorites, giving viewers a taste of the culinary expertise behind the university's campus dining program, led by Executive Chef Michael Fusco.
The brats earned an enthusiastic reception from the ESPN hosts, and Spriggs enjoyed a brief appearance of his own during the live broadcast.
Following the televised segment, the culinary team brought the experience back to campus, sharing bratwurst with Golden Hurricane fans gathered in the Allen Chapman Student Center.
For TU Dining, the ESPN appearance provided an opportunity to recognize the chefs and dining professionals whose work supports the university's athletic events and campus traditions throughout the year.
From preparing meals for students to contributing to major university events, the TU Dining team plays an important role in campus life. The SportsCenter appearance offered a national audience a glimpse of that work, while giving Golden Hurricane fans another reason to celebrate their university on game day.
