Events at Raindrop Turkish House Tulsa

Raindrop Turkish House, 4444 W. Houston St. (81st) in Broken Arrow, is “a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote friendship and understanding through cultural experiences.” Recent events have included the Turkish Festival on November 4, 2017, which celebrated food and culture. Visitors to Raindrop enjoyed delicious Turkish food. They could also observe the ancient art of Ebru, water marbling. Most importantly, visitors to Raindrop could form new friendships as they learned about additional events at Raindrop.
The pre-Thanksgiving dinner was held November 16. A large crowd enjoyed a delicious dinner including a turkey cooked with eggplant, potatoes, squash, and rice. The evening allowed diners to meet new people as well as visit with old friends.
Upcoming events include the book club which meets Nov 30. Formerly, the book club was open only to women, but this year, men are also invited to join the discussions. The book under discussion Nov 30 is Peaches for Father Francis by Joanne Harris. The discussion begins at 7:00 PM. The next book club meeting is scheduled for Feb 15, 2018. A popular local author is being invited to speak, discussing the writing process. Stay tuned for more information once the author has been confirmed! Book club events are free and open to interested readers.

The next Ladies’ Coffee Night will take place Dec 8; the theme for the evening is human rights with a speaker who will enlighten participants about human rights. The evening includes a full Turkish meal. Cost for the event is $15. Pre-registration is required. Sign up by calling 918.806.6022 or by emailing tulsa@turkishhouse.org. Soon, an Eventbrite link will be available for pre-registration.

International Cooking Classes offer participants excellent opportunities to learn new recipes, meet old friends, make new friends, and enjoy an afternoon of fun and food. The next cooking class on Dec 2 at 3:00 PM will feature German cuisine with Gisele McDaniel leading the cooking class. Cooking classes are $15 per session.
