- After an April 2021 fire at the city's primary recycling plant shut down regular operations, curbside recycling will restart in Tulsa on Jan. 31, 2022. Refuse and recycling will be collected separately starting that day. The city says Tulsa Recycle & Transfer installed a new system following the fire, which was caused by a lithium-ion battery. - A man admitted to Tulsa Police that he'd been recruited by a Mexican cartel to traffic drugs into the United States. The man said he paid a smuggler thousands of dollars to help him into the country and had only been here a couple of weeks before his arrest. Sgt. Zeller of the Tulsa PD said the drug dealer told investigators he initially came to America to get a job at a restaurant but was quickly enticed by the "easy money" of the heroin trade. (News On 6)
- A Tulsa business has donated more than $10,000 worth of coats, backpacks, and school supplies to Union Elementary School. (news9.com KWTV)
- Tulsa police are investigating after human remains were found inside of an abandoned house that caught fire early on Friday morning. According to police, the fire broke out at a home near East 5th Street and South Utica Avenue. Police say after the fire was put out, firefighters did a secondary search of the home and found the remains of a woman in a back bedroom. (News On 6)
