Good morning, Tulsa! Like many of you, the Patch team is taking some time off to celebrate the New Year, so there will not be a newsletter in your inbox tomorrow. We appreciate your understanding of this slight pause in our schedule, and I will be back on Monday with the next edition of the Tulsa Daily! Now, here's everything happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and mild. High: 68 Low: 39.

Here are the top 3 stories in Tulsa today:

  1. A Tulsa man has pleaded guilty to a shooting outside a nightclub in August. Jaden Perezadmitted to shooting a security guard at the Midnight Rodeo club after being kicked out of the venue and getting into a fight. The guard was wearing a bulletproof vest and survived the shooting, and no one else was injured during the incident. (News On 6)
  2. The Tulsa Recycling and Transfer facility is reopening with upgraded systems after a fire forced the facility to close in April. The revival project is estimated to have cost at least $11 million and will include a new state-of-the-art system that uses artificial intelligence to allow for more efficient sorting. American Waste Control Vice President, Robert Pickens, said the new system will also help with quality control. (kjrh.com)
  3. One person has been hospitalized following a crash involving an unlicensed teenage driver. The incident occurred Thursday morning near 21st Street and 73rd East Avenue when the 14-year-old unlicensed driver hit a small truck that was stopped in the road while traveling at nearly 90 miles per hour. The driver of the truck was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the hospital for emergency surgery. (News On 6)
