Tulsa Public Schools Safety First Project: Street Lighting Installation Complete For Priority 1 And 2 School Locations
The Vision Tulsa sales tax includes $14,500,000 for the Public Schools Safety First project.

As construction of the Vision Tulsa Public Schools Safety First project continues, new street lighting has been added at 34 of the public schools in the Priority 1 and Priority 2 classifications – see https://www.cityoftulsa.org/government/capital-programs/vision-tulsa/vision-projects/public-schools-safety-first/ . The City of Tulsa has installed these street lights through a contract with AEP-PSO. Priorities 3, 4, and 5 will be addressed in another upcoming bid package, for which the plans are currently under review.

“This Vision Tulsa project is having a direct impact on safety, providing safer street crossings near schools for children traveling to and from school,” said Mayor G.T. Bynum. “The new street lights installed add more safety to children’s routes to school, especially on mornings when it is still dark.”

The Vision Tulsa sales tax includes $14,500,000 for the Public Schools Safety First project. The project consists of safety improvements near public schools in Tulsa, including locations in the Tulsa, Union and Jenks school districts. Work includes sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, crosswalks, school zone flashers, signage, striping, street lighting and pedestrian signals where warranted.
