🌱 Union Dropping Mask Mandate? + 2 Dead In Bixby Collision

Here are the top stories in Tulsa today:
- Last night, the Union Public Schools district called a special board meeting to consider dropping its mask mandate. Superintendent Kirt Hartzler asked the board to drop the mandate because cases among students and staff have been dropping and are down 72 percent since the mandate went into effect in September. if the mandate is dropped, the district will continue to monitor the case numbers and reinstate it if cases rise. (KTUL)
- A three-car head-on collision near South Memorial Drive and East 126th Street South in Bixby left two people dead Monday night. One driver was pronounced dead on the scene, and another died of her injuries from the accident at a Tulsa hospital. The Bixby Police Department and the Tulsa County Medical Examiner's Office are still investigating the collision. (KTUL)
- A group of Tulsa sixth-graders purchased Christmas gifts for less fortunate children as part of the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program. The students had to use money they had earned by completing "random acts of kindness," for which they received $7,200 in donations from family members and community organizations. (News On 6)
- In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Tulsa Public Schools held tribal flag acknowledgment ceremonies to honor the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Osage Nation, and Cherokee Nation throughout the month. (Muscogee Nation News)
- Emergency crews were on the scene at 31st and Garnett on Tuesday after an 86-year-old driver got his foot stuck under the gas pedal and crashed into the bedroom of a Tulsa home. No one was injured in the incident. (News On 6)
