📰 News we're reading

• One in custody after allegedly firing gun at family members, children (okcfox.com) — Wagoner County deputies and Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse officers safely resolved a tense domestic disturbance near Red Bird after a suspect allegedly fired shots toward family members and children. Responders evacuated victims, contained the scene, and eventually arrested the barricaded suspect, drawing praise from Sheriff Chris Elliott for their calm, coordinated response.

• Soybean harvest impacted by drought (claremoreprogress.com) — Soybean farmers in Wagoner County are reporting 10–20% lower yields after this summer’s heat and drought, with early varieties hit hardest. Higher soybean prices help a bit, but rising diesel and fertilizer costs still squeeze local farm budgets as they hope later crops benefit from recent rains.
