Florida Man Killed In Oregon Car Crash: State Police

Benjamin Saxby of Venice, Florida, was killed outside of Grants Pass when his minivan left Highway 199. Saxby was not wearing a safety belt.

GRANTS PASS, OR — A Florida man was killed Wednesday when his minivan left Highway 199 in Southern Oregon and rolled down a steep embankment, according to Oregon State Police.

Benjamin Saxby of Venice, Florida, was traveling south on Highway 199 around 12:15 p.m. Dec. 20 when for unknown reasons his 2003 Kia Sedona left the roadway near milepost 24, roughly 24 miles west of Grants Pass, Oregon, in Josephine County.

Saxby, 46, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from his vehicle, police said. First responders found Saxby's Sedona about 100 feet west of the highway, police said, noting Saxby sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
