• Washington County jurisdictions less willing to support protections for immigrant crime victims, says report (opb.org) — Washington County's low approval rate for U visa certifications is raising concerns among immigrant advocates, and former state legislator Jeff Barker of Aloha warns the denials could especially harm the county's diverse communities. Local police agencies in Hillsboro, Beaverton, and the Sheriff's Office are approving far fewer requests than the state average, prompting calls for better training and clearer protocols.
