🌱Victim Freed From Hwy 26 Crash + Old Town Speakeasy 'Flora' To Open

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Happy Friday, people of Beaverton! Let's get this day started. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

A couple of afternoon showers. High: 60 Low: 41.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Two vehicle crashes on Highway 26 slowed traffic on Thursday. Hillsboro Fire & Rescue reported to the first incident near the Cornelius Pass Road Exit around 8:30 a.m., pulling one victim from a badly damaged car with life-threatening injuries. The other incident occurred on Highway 26 Eastbound a short time later. The agency has not released details on the cause of either accident. (KOIN.com)
  2. There's a new spot for beverages in Old Town Beaverton. Loyal Legion beer hall is set to open its upper level as a cocktail bar named Flora. The reservation-only speakeasy-style digs will serve as a sophisticated contrast to the laidback lower-level drinkery when doors open April 28. (New School Beer + Cider)
  3. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue reported to a mobile home fire in Beaverton on Thursday morning. The blaze necessitated evacuations by neighbors on Southwest Electric Street. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation. (KATU)
  4. And here's the latest on the woes of Washington County auditor John Hutzler, who is the focus of two investigations as he preps for the May elections. Hutzler admits to confusion about attribution of endorsements in the voters' pamphlet — he says he regrets creating "the impression that Pamplin was endorsing me." Meanwhile, Hutzler is also under fire from his staffers, five of seven have complaints about him. (KOIN.com)
  5. There's soon to be another spot to gather your fresh produce and artisan goods. Troy Shin reports that the Hillsboro Farmers Market is set to reopen this weekend for its 40th season. The market opener will kick off on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Civic Center Plaza. The Orenco site will reopen on Sunday. (Portland Tribune)
