Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- Two individuals were found dead at a Tigard hotel on Friday. The incident occurred at the Embassy Suites at Southwest Hall Boulevard and Eliander Lane near Washington Square. Police say they believe that there is not an active threat, but they are still searching for an individual they believe to be responsible. (KGW.com) The homicides are the first for the city of Tigard in 2022 and the seventh and eighth for the city since 2017, according to Patch.com.
- Hillsboro police said on Friday, May 6, that they arrested a man in relation to a drive-by shooting. Police say that the suspect Carl Ryon Anthony Sehy, 32, shot at a van containing five people on April 6 on Highway 26 near Cornelius Pass Road back in April. (FlashAlert)
- "Many companies talk about work life balance, why not work somewhere they #justdoit?" says Nike's lead technical recruiter, Connor Snashall. The comment was in relation to the company's decision to close offices for a week in August and offer Fridays off at noon during the summer. Writer Shoshy Ciment notes that the decision comes on the back of a study that revealed 82.3% of the 1,000 U.S. adults surveyed reported being happier and mentally healthier when allowed to work remotely. - The Oregonian "Beer Guy" — beer writer Andre Meunier — says he has some apologies for the beer purveyors of Beaverton. His recent article addressed the "beer renaissance" that's happening in our fair city, but he says that perhaps he wasn't thorough enough with his accolades. In a peace-making effort, Meunier offered three additional picks: Cascadia Taphouse, The Westgate Bourbon Bar & Taphouse and Nebulous Taproom. (OregonLive)
- A large swath of vacant business real estate in Beaverton is now occupied, according to reporter Chuck Slothower. An equipment supplier has leased space in the Bennett Business Center, located on Southwest Western Avenue. (Daily Journal of Commerce; subscription required)
