Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:
- A community alert went out Sunday morning after a family failed to locate one of its own. Police say Zakari Newton-Douglass, 31, left her home Saturday evening but did not return when expected. Authorities tweeted that Newton-Douglass was located by late Sunday afternoon. (KATU)
- A local taphouse had a pleasant problem this weekend: too many people wanted to attend Uptown Beer Company's Dark Beer Festival in Southwest Portland on Saturday. The owner says it's the event's third year and the first time it's ever sold out. The Dark Beer Festival featured 25 local dark, barrel-aged and rare beers. (KATU)
- Police say two juveniles are in a detention facility after an armed robbery at a Washington County gas station. Four masked individuals with at least one weapon threatened a cashier at the ARCO near 153rd and Northwest Cornell around 5:23 AM Sunday, fleeing on foot with stolen goods. Police caught up with two of the alleged culprits, but they have not been identified. (KPTV.com)
- Catlin Gabel School, a private school in Northwest Portland, has been in the news quite a lot lately. Most recently, the establishment faced criticism for hosting a vaccination clinic before vaccines were readily available to the rest of the community. Many rallied to defend the school, saying that the slight was not intentional and benefited everyone by increasing the overall vaccination rate, among other arguments.
