The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

Happy Monday, people of Beaverton! Let's get this day started. Here's everything worth knowing around town today.
First, today's weather:
Areas of morning fog. High: 52 Low: 43.
Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:
- A crash closed TV Highway in Hillsboro Sunday afternoon. Officers say a speeding driver caused a T-bone collision that involved three vehicles near Northwest 17th Avenue. Emergency workers had to extricate one of the passengers from one of the cars. Authorities have not released the statuses of those involved although three were sent to the hospital. Hillsboro police are investigating the accident. (KPTV)
- A Washington County resident asks the experts at the Oregon State University's Extension Service what plants can be grown under coniferous trees. The answer from the master gardener addresses two of the main challenges in that situation— 1) the tree gets first dibs at water in the soil (solution: drip irrigation or potted plants) and 2) heavy shade (solution: plant farther from the heavily shaded area). - Here are two WashCo road projects beginning this week that may affect your drives around town:
- Expect lane closures on Grabhorn Road between Farmington Road and Leland Drive starting Tuesday, November 23 from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM for the Tualatin Valley Water District water main installation. The construction will last into February;
- The traffic signal will be shut down at the Scholls Ferry and Vandermost roads intersection on Monday, November 22, from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM. (LUT News)
- Exciting news for those who walk along TV Highway as well as those who don't walk there now because of lack of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure: The Council Creek Regional Trail project has received a $12.2 million federal Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant. The money provides a significant portion of the necessary funding to create a 6-mile ped- and bike-friendly trail connecting Forest Grove, Cornelius and Hillsboro. (LUT News)
- Check out the latest (semi-unofficial) news on the proposed gas station adjacent to Bethany Lake Park over at the dedicated Nextdoor forum. Washington County officials were scheduled to discuss the matter last Thursday, November 18, but the applicant asked for a continuance to tweak their application based on public comments and the staff report. Washington County granted the continuance, scheduling a new Public Hearing on January 20, 2022.

- Today is National Cranberry Relish Day, an often overlooked event pertaining to an often overlooked food. One of our neighbors might be in-the-know: A Windsor Park resident wonders, "Has anyone seen Cranberry Jell-O anywhere?? - Do they even make it anymore?" Is the person who posted simply looking for a tangy, jiggly treat or do they have bigger plans for the tart gelatin? Click over to Nextdoor to help them out or just to join the cranberry-themed discussion.
- It's also National Fall Prevention Month, a great time to share a reader's recent request to remind folks that homeowners are responsible for maintaining the sidewalks adjacent to their homes. Sounds like good practice to me!
