🌱Houseplant Swap + Hillsboro Farmers Market Celebrates 40 Years

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Hello Beaverton. Let's take a look at what's going on today.

First, today's weather:

Don't let all those clouds fool you, it really is getting warmer High:67 Low: 46

Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Between 80 and 100 rounds were fired around 5 p.m. Friday afternoon as deputies searched for a gunman after reports that a truck's windshield had been shot earlier in the afternoon. The incident took place in Northwest Cornelius Pass Road between Germantown and West Union Road. Police had closed the road because of the reports as they searched for the shooter. Todd Borino, 51, was detained just after 5:30 p.m. and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. Fortunately nobody was hurt. The road has been reopened. (KPTV)
  2. On Thursday evening, a man was life flighted to a nearby trauma center after he was shot near Cornelius. One person has been detained by authorities regarding the event. The name of the person in custody has not been released yet. (KGW)
  3. The Hillsboro Farmers Market isn't going to let the Weil Arcade fire in January slow their roll as they plan for their 40th anniversary this year. The market offices were just on the edge of the fire and while they didn't burn, much of the property that was inside was destroyed by heat and smoke. For that reason, the kid's Market Sprouts program and the Market Kitchen program that provided recipes for home cooks will not be back this year. Despite the setbacks, market organizers say the market is a vital part of Hillsboro and the main market will reopen in downtown Hillsboro on April 23 and the Orenco station market will open April 24. (Hillsboro News Times)
  4. The Apple Store in Bridgeport Village is planning on doubling its size, moving from its current location occupying 5,940 square feet around the corner to a space that will give them 10,800 square feet. The storefront in the shopping mall has already been demolished. Portland tech executive Cabel Sassern spotted a permit application outlining new plans. It's not immediately clear when the move will occur. (OregonLive)
  5. NIKE celebrated Nike Air Max Day yesterday. The sneakers giant created this holiday 35 years ago in 1978 when they released the footwear known as Air Max 1. This year, in keeping with tradition, NIKE "Blueprint," "La Ville-Lumiere" and "Wabisabi" colorways are dropping as regional exclusives. Can you say retail therapy? (DraftKings Nation)
