Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- A former Beaverton daycare worker was sentenced to five years in prison on March 9. John Gilbreath was found guilty back in 2019 for sexually abusing a child while working for Partridge House daycare. Later, while in a sex offender treatment program, Gilbreath admitted to abusing six other children. In light of the new information, a judge sentenced Gilbreath to the prison term as well as a lifetime of post-prison supervision. (KATU)
- An apartment fire along Allen Boulevard displaced ten people on Monday. Flames were present in two units, but a total of four were damaged by smoke and water. No one was injured. (KGW.com)
- Local cooks who were homebound during the pandemic are turning their pizza hobby into a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Beaverton. Aaron Truong, who, along with his wife, created Hapa Pizza, says pizza-making became a sort of therapy from the stresses of his job in the mental health field. Soon, the Truongs will open an 800-square-foot restaurant in Old Town Beaverton with help from a grant from the city. (OregonLive)
