Today's riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Nation's most destructive forest pest found in Salem, Beaverton (naturalresourcereport.com) — Emerald ash borer has now been confirmed inside Beaverton, threatening local ash and olive trees in streets, parks, and natural areas. The city's Urban Forestry team is already treating high-value ash trees, planting thousands of natives, and urging residents to stop planting ash and report suspected infestations. Homeowners can help by monitoring their trees and considering preventive treatment or replacement.
• Beaverton's New Parking Enforcement Rules Frustrating Downtown Drivers, Including City's Mayor (kxl.com) — Downtown Beaverton drivers are feeling the impact of newly enforced two-hour weekday parking limits, and even Mayor Lacey Beaty is now pushing for changes. After councilors narrowly approved an enforcement contract in May and ticketing began August 3, residents have complained about overreach. The council has unanimously agreed to reform the permit system, but broader enforcement concerns remain unresolved.
• Police arrest suspect after Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy stabbing leaves 1 injured (koin.com) — Beaverton police have identified and arrested a suspect in an Aug. 4 stabbing near SW 107th Avenue and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway that left a 30-year-old man critically injured. A Washington County grand jury indicted the Portland man on attempted murder and related charges. Investigators are still seeking tips from anyone who may have information about the case.
