Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Nancy Crampton Brophy, formerly of Beaverton, was sentenced to life in prison on Monday for the murder of her husband. Crampton Brophy was convicted in late May for the 2018 killing of Daniel Brophy at his workplace. Her legal team said they're planning an appeal. (Patch)
  2. Beaverton mayor Lacey Beaty participated in March for Our Lives over the weekend. The student-led event sought to promote anti-violence. Find out more about what's going on around City Hall from KOIN's Mayor Monday segment.
  3. Hillsboro's Hawthorn Center revealed that it will soon stop taking walk-ins, Troy Shinn reports. The facility has offered mental health and addiction services without an appointment since 2017, but that will end starting Wednesday, June 15, due to staff shortages. Turn to Twitter to find out Mayor Beaty's thoughts on the matter. (Portland Tribune)
  4. Tigard police made an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run collision on Hall Boulevard that killed a woman and seriously injured her 87-year-old mother back in March. The agency revealed the arrest on June 13, identifying the suspect as Toma Matisoff, 28. The suspect faces additional charges for other crimes. The incident seems to have prompted officials to plan major safety improvements to Hall Boulevard. (KOIN.com)
  5. Beaverton is losing its German-themed eatery this summer. Bargarten, located near Cedar Hills Crossing, is set to shutter on June 26. Along with Gustav's in Clackamas, Bargarten was part of the brand initiated by Der Rheinlander on Northeast Sandy Boulevard in Portland back in the 1960's. (Willamette Week)
