Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- In local girls basketball, Geoffrey C. Arnold reports that the No. 1 Beaverton Beavers were rolling on an eight-game winning streak ahead of a showdown against the No. 2 Jesuit Crusaders. The winner of the Tuesday game will snag first place in the Metro League. (OregonLive)
- Check the latest hospital capacity in the Beaverton area to help stay in the know about the course of the pandemic. The Beaverton Patch reports that both St. Vincent and Legacy Meridian Park are hovering at about 80% of capacity, Kaiser Westside is at around 65% and Tuality in Hillsboro is all the way up to nearly 98% of capacity. Statewide, 26% of ICU beds are filled by COVID-19 patients.
- The new Patricia Reser Center for the Arts is being readied to host its first performances. With a lineup featuring the Count Basie Orchestra, Lea Salonga, the Oregon Symphony and more, executive director Chris Ayzoukian says the venue promises to be "humming with activity." - The City of Beaverton says that the Open Air Beaverton grant program is now accepting applications. The funding is designed to help defray the costs of expanding by outdoor service areas.
