Beaverton Bakery Program Honored at White House

Program gives people with criminal records a second chance.

For ten years, the Beaverton Bakery has been giving people with criminal records a second chance.

It's a program that Bakery President Carrie Ann Schubert set up with Judge Thomas Kohl, who presided over the Washington County Adult Treatment Court.

Since it started, the program has helped more than 200 people with criminal records, hiring and training them.

And on Wednesday, Schubert and the program were honored by The White House for being a "Champion of Change."

She was one of the people honored for their efforts.

The Bakery has been in Beaverton since 1925 and Schubert's family has owned it since 1965.
