Library programs, city events and meetings, and other activities are happening virtually.

June 19, 2020

BEAVERTON, Ore. – The City of Beaverton will keep its buildings closed to the public for in-person visits and business through at least Sunday, July 5. The latest decision comes in response to ongoing efforts to maintain health and safety as noticeable increases in COVID-19 are reported throughout Oregon.

“Beaverton is successfully operating remotely and providing almost all of our services virtually,” said Mayor Denny Doyle. “The safety of our staff and community members remain our top priority. We are prepared to open our doors when it is safe to do so, but at this time choosing to remain closed and encouraging remote access to services is our best option.”

City services remain available for remote business by phone or online, including housing and business resources, mediation and culturally-specific services, building permits and applications, utility billing and more. Library programs, city events and meetings, and other activities are happening virtually.

Building closures include both library locations, City Hall, the Griffith Drive building and other public buildings. Some services, such as the Beaverton Municipal Court and others, may begin to provide in-person services sooner, if it is safe to do. Building closures will continue to be extended further, as needed.

In addition, Beaverton’s Emergency Declaration has been extended and will remain in effect until Friday, July 3. The declaration, which was originally signed on March 13, is a proactive measure that provides increased flexibility with resources and response to the coronavirus pandemic. The declaration will continue to be extended bi-weekly as required.

People are also highly encouraged to continue to practice physical distancing and wear face coverings in public when distancing isn’t possible. Staying home when sick, washing hands often, and keeping at least six feet of space from others is extremely recommended.
