🌱State Of The City Recap + Cedar Hills Hit-And-Run

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Good day, people of Beaverton! It's me again, Ash DeMello, your host of the Beaverton Daily.

First, today's weather:

Rain and drizzle in the a.m.. High: 57 Low: 39.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Did you get a chance to watch Beaverton Voices: State of the City 2022, hosted by Mayor Beaty, on Tuesday? Click over to the City of Beaverton website to watch a recording of the program, or check out a recap via the Beaverton Valley Times (click here if you have a paid subscription; click here if you'd like free access via your WCCLS login). Highlights included a discussion of a year-round homeless shelter and development in the Cooper Mountain neighborhood.
  2. Seems like everybody had to make changes during the pandemic. Read how a Bethany couple, Pamela and Kefers Ellis, made adjustments in their ministry as Jehovah's Witnesses to stay safe despite COVID-19. The Jehovah's Witnesses' organization saw congregants increasing despite 'going virtual,' reports Sally Segar. 3. Oregon is one of the few states where manufacturing reigns supreme in the state's economy — namely, semiconductor chip manufacturing. An industry task force is working to reinforce that vital sector of Oregon's economic wellness. Included in the discussion is a top Intel executive, Senator Ron Wyden and Portland General Electric CEO Maria Pope. Get the highlights at OregonLive.
  4. A man was arrested for hit-and-run on Monday, March 28, police say. Highway 26 near Cedar Hills Boulevard was closed briefly after an accident from which one individual involved fled. Police found the man a short while later after he was involved in another crash. After the second crash, the suspect fled on foot, but a K-9 officer was able to track him down. (KATU.com)
  5. More hype on Cedar Hills Crossing's incoming Moberi from KOIN News' Takeout Tuesday segment. The smoothie bowl purveyor is set to open this Friday, April 1, with free bowls in honor of the Grand Opening. The business's owner, Ryan Carpenter, says Beaverton folks have been requesting a closer location for awhile. (Twitter)

From our sponsor:

Where should you invest as a Beaverton resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there's a new investment Beaverton residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now and many of them chose it.

This may surprise you, but it's fine art.

Growing your nest egg with art isn't new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.

Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.

Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.

The best part? Anyone from your area can skip their waitlist*.
