Beaverton High School Celebrates 100th Anniversary
School may be out - but it's probably good to give the building a chance to rest.

The school doesn't look a day over 50.
But Beaverton High School was dedicated 100 years ago Sunday.
The school had been around in form or another since 1875 but as Beaverton started to grow, so did the need for a new school.

In 1915, the school board asked voters for a $21,000 bond measure to build a new school, arguing a new school would attract new students.

Voters said yes.
The new 22-room building was dedicated on June 19th and it opened for classes the following September with less than 50 students.
There are now more than 1,600 students.
