Morning, Beaverton! Let's get you started this Friday with everything you need to know going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

Cloudy, a little rain; chilly. High: 42 Low: 33.

Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:

  1. A Beaverton local has made the list of Kid of the Year Finalists for Time Magazine. Jenell Theobald, 15, advocates for those with developmental and physical disabilities. Theobald herself has autism, so she acutely understands the challenges people can face and knows some insightful ways to help. Get Theobald's whole story at TIME.
  2. Looking for a vaccine? Check out a list of Washington County-sponsored Beaverton walk-in clinics from KOIN.com. There's also the Oregon Health Authority vaccination site at Tektronix. Click over to the article to get the details for all the locations.
  3. A statewide clean drinking water effort was recently awarded $92 million in federal funds. US Representative Suzanne Bonamici, who represents Washington County and other parts of Northwest Oregon, announced the influx of money earlier this month. The funds will go towards replacing lead pipes and making improvements to wastewater and drinking water systems over the next five years. (Beaverton Patch)
  4. The Beaverton School District's 2021 WE Award to a Community Member went to Ron Holmgren, who made desks for students for remote schooling. He was inspired by a segment on television to build spots for kids to call their own and hopefully create a foundation for greater scholastic success. So far, Holmgren has built and donated 50 desks. 5. The thought of snow has just about everyone in the area aflutter. Tap the link to get the details of Beaverton's weekend weather forecast. Sources say we should have a twinkly white December 25, with possible accumulation of up to 4.4 inches in the Metro area. (Beaverton Patch)
