Beaverton Kids Take Home Honors at World Robotics Championships

A team of kids from Westview, Jesuit, and Sunset High Schools in Beaverton went to the First Tech Challenge World Robotics Championships in Saint Louis and came home with top honors.

The team of teens won the Inspire Award.

The honor recognizes a combination of outreach and robot design.

It's the first time a team from Oregon won the award.

They were honored not only for the work they did but for the support they have to other teams.

The challenge that Hot Wired - and the other teams - faced was to build a rescue robot that can simulate a mountain rescue, clearing away debris and maneuvering up and down a simulated mountain.
