Beaverton Man Killed In Crash Outside Cloverdale, OR: Police
Carl Matthews, 65, rolled his BMW near US Highway 101 Milepost 89, about 1.5 miles south Cloverdale. Alcohol use is being investigated.

CLOVERDALE, OR — A Beaverton man was killed in a car crash a mile and a half outside Cloverdale Thursday night when his BMW left Highway 101 near Nestucca Valley Elementary School. Police say the driver may have been intoxicated.
Carl E. Matthews, 65, was reportedly traveling north on US Highway 101 in a silver 2005 BMW 325Ci around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 11 when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled through a brushy area near Milepost 89, just in front of the Nestucca Valley Elementary School at 36925 U.S. 101 S. in Cloverdale.
Oregon State Police said speed, alcohol, and cannabis are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.
