Beaverton Moves Closer to New Public Safety Center
Advisory committee recommends a $35 million, 90,000-square foot facility.

Beaverton is one step closer to getting a new public safety center that would house the police department as well as the emergency operations center.
An advisory committee set up to study the issue voted to ask the city council for a new police and emergency facility.
The 90,000-square foot facility would cost approximately $35 million and be built on city-owned property at SW Hall Boulevard and SW Allen Boulevard.

The committee suggests the council ask Beaverton residents to fund the facility at the same rate they are currently funding the library.
That levy expires next year and the one for the public safety building would take its place.

"This concept makes sense," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "It directs our resources wisely without raising our property tax rate beyond what we pay today. The committee did a great job with their recommendation."
The committee will make their recommendations to the city council on June 7.
