Beaverton Police Identify Man Killed In Crash
50-year-old Johann Franz Young stepped in front of a car and was killed.

Beaverton Police say that the man killed on Monday night when he was struck by a car on Highway 26 was 50-year-old Johann Franz Young. He lived in Portland and before that, Columbia County.
Police say that Young had walked out into the slow lane of traffic right in front of an oncoming car. The driver swerved to miss him but clipped him with the passenger side of the vehicle.

Young died at the scene.
The driver stayed on scene and was cooperative, police say. hey found no evidence to support DUI, distracted driving, or speeding as factors in the crash.

"Our thoughts go out to Johann’s family and friends," said Beaverton Police Spokesman Jeremy Shaw.
