Beaverton Police Stop "Extremely Impaired" Driver

Officers had to perform a PIT maneuver to stop the car.

An apparently impaired driver was involved in a crash, fled the scene, and led Beaverton Police on a chase before finally being taken into custody, police said Monday.

The incident started with a crash on Southwest Broadway around Noon. The driver fled the scene and refused orders from officers to stop.

Officers eventually used what's known as a PIT maneuver to puncture the car's tired.

"The driver was non-compliant and appeared to be extremely impaired," police said in a statement.

The driver was taken into custody and was examined by medical personnel.
