Beaverton Police Veteran Named Interim Chief
Jim Monger has been with the department for 30 years.

Jim Monger, a 30-year-veteran of the Beaverton Police Department, has been interim chief.
He takes for Geoff Spalding whose last day is Friday, July 15th.
"I have every confidence in Captain Monger’s leadership abilities," said Mayor Denny Doyle. “He has been our project manager on the proposed public safety facility and I have gotten a chance to work closely with him.

Monger, who served in the Marine Corps, spent 13 years as a patrol officer, eight years as a sergeant, five years as a lieutenant, and the last three years as captain.
“It is a privilege to serve this community and I am honored to have this opportunity to lead the department I’ve called home for more than 30 years,” said Monger.
His first day as interim chief is Saturday.
