Beaverton Police Warn of Fake Cop Making Traffic Stops
After two incidents Wednesday, Beaverton Police ask for help.

Beaverton Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a man who is pretending to be a police officer making traffic stops.
Police say there were two incidents on Wednesday night - both calls involving a man trying to make traffic stops and impersonating an officer.
The man is driving a newer, gun-metal grey or dark grey Mitsubishi Lancer.The car appeared to have a LED light-mounted above the rearview mirror that flashes, white, red, and blue.

He's described as a white man around 35-40-years-old, with a shaved head, clean-shaven face, and a large tattoo on the inside of his left arm.
Beaverton Police say that the victim in the first case. stated that she believed he was an off duty police officer because his car did not look like a police car and he was not in a uniform. The victim stated that he did not have a badge and did not say he was a police officer.

He demanded to see her driver's license and registration and after looking at them, he returned them to her and drove off
Beaverton Police say it is extremely rare that anyone would be stopped by an officer not in uniform.
The department says that if you are pulled over and are not sure if it is a real officer:
Continue driving to a populated area;
Once stopped, lock your doors and roll down your window only enough to be able to hear and pass your license through;
Ask the person for his/her badge and identification.
