Beaverton Proclaims June LGBTQ Pride Month
The proclamation is scheduled to be made at the Beaverton City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. on June 20.

BEAVERTON, OR — Continuing its push as the most diverse city in the Portland metro region, the City of Beaverton will officially designate June 2017 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Pride Month at the city council meeting June 20.
"Beaverton is proud to be a welcoming city," Mayor Denny Doyle said in a statement Monday. "We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion for everyone who calls our community home."
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Beaverton Building, 12725 S.W. Millikan Way.

Home to more than 95,000 residents, Beaverton officials have been making strides over the past year to increase the city's outreach and promote events that bring the community's array of cultures together to share experiences and break down the wall of misunderstanding.
The June 20 LGBTQ proclamation, officials said, speaks out against the discrimination and violence toward that marginalized community of people, and reminds residents that Beaverton is a place where everyone is celebrated and valued.
