Beaverton Program Helping DUII Drivers Find the Right Path
Program aims to reduce repeat arrests for driving under the influence.

A Beaverton program aimed at helping reduce the number of people arrested more than once for driving under the influence plans to host a graduation ceremony for 11 people on Thursday.
The program - the Beaverton Sobriety Opportunity for Beginning Recovery or B-SOBR - was started five years ago by Mayor Denny Doyle and the city council.

It focuses on people who have been convicted more than once and those with blood alcohol content of .15 or higher.
The Beaverton Municipal Court handles around 400 DUII cases each year.

The program works with groups like Serenity Lane Treatment Center, Goodwill Job Connections, and Oregon Food Bank to help people.
They also work with Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams - a partnership between DoveLewis and Guide Dogs for the Blind - to have two therapy teams attend court hearings with B-SOBR participants.
