Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- At home in Kenya, tea was a part of life for Anne Johnson. Now, with her business Mamancy Tea and Chocolate, Johnson is sharing that part of her culture with Beaverton and Hillsboro. Hear her story and visit her shop virtually at KPTV.com.
- Superintendent Grotting announced a change to the district schedule on Tuesday. Due to an unprecedented number of absences and labor shortages, Beaverton School District will add five early release days in the near future. Students will be sent home two hours early on

- Tuesday, June 21.
- The City of Beaverton announced an upcoming author's fair at the Beaverton City Library in May. Local authors can apply for a space to share and promote their writing. Get the details at the Press Release Desk.
- The Cedar Mill News offers a roundup of development updates for the neighborhoods North of 26. Milltowner shopping center at Saltzman and Cornell is set to become the new home for Abuela Chona, a longtime Argentinian staple of the BG Food Cartel. A national chain of preschool/daycare providers has purchased the property across the street from Bonny Slope Elementary on Northwest McDaniel. And Brandon Phillips, leader of the group opposed to the gas station at 185th and West Union, is working to update the county's code to prevent such facilities in the future.
- Nearly $164 million in pandemic rescue money flooded the Portland Metro area in recent months, and reporter Allison Mechanic tracked it down. Hillsboro's Assistant City Manager says they put most of it towards projects to support those experiencing homelessness. Mechanic reports that Beaverton, Tigard and Portland followed suit with the majority of their funds as well. (KATU)
