Beaverton Schools Boundary Committee Adopts Final Plan
They hand it off to Superintendent Jeff Rose hours after he announces he is leaving for another job

After months of discuss and hundreds and hundreds of comments from parents, teachers, and children, the committee drawing new boundaries for the Beaverton School District has approved their final proposal.
It is now in the hands of Superintendent Jeff Rose, landing their hours after he announced he was leaving Beaverton after five years, headed to Fulton County, Georgia to take a new job.
The changes are necessary because the population of Beaverton has been growing faster than expected. Two of the high schools are expected to be near 100 percent capacity in the next few years.

As a result, the district is building a new high school south of Cooper Mountain and the boundaries are changing.
The committee did not make any changes to the proposal they had released two weeks earlier.

The new proposal would move:
- * Sexton Mountain Elementary into the area covered by the new high school;
- Montclair Elementary into the area of Southridge High School;
- Oak Hills Elementary students would go to Sunset High School; and
- Beaverton High School would get kids from Raleigh Hills.
The changes go into effect during the 2017-2018 school year.
Rose is expected to adopt the new boundaries for what will be Beaverton's six high schools before he departs for Georgia.
That is likely to happen by the end of April.
