🌱Beaverton Starbucks File To Unionize + Sherwood Crash Traps 1

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Rise and shine, Beaverton! Let's get you started this Tuesday with everything you need to know going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy with a shower. High: 44 Low: 34.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Employees from three Beaverton-area Starbucks filed petitions to unionize on Monday morning. Sophie Peel reports the locations as the shop on Garden Home Road in Southwest Portland, the one on Southwest Walker Road and the one on Cedar Hills Boulevard. The trio joins three other Starbucks around Oregon that have filed similar requests as well as 50 around the country. An organizer of the effort says the petitions are in part a response to managements' severe snowstorm policies. (Willamette Week)
  2. Read more about the food charity vehicle that was stolen from a Beaverton church over at KGW.com. The yellow St. Vincent de Paul truck was taken about a week ago, halting deliveries to local food pantries. The Beaverton Police Department is asking folks to keep on the watch for the distinctive truck and to report sightings.
  3. TVF&R responded to a vehicle accident Sunday evening near Southwest Tonquin and Southwest Oregon streets in Sherwood. Rescue efforts required authorities to close Southwest Tonquin as they worked to extract one individual and clear the accident. The individual was taken to a local hospital, and the accident is under investigation. (Twitter)
  4. Click over to the Beaverton Patch to see a list of pets who are available for adoption in the Beaverton area. The lineup of furry friends includes a beautiful adult male Great Pyrenees, an (adorable) puppy named Thelma and more.
  5. See who's hiring in the area with a list from the Beaverton Patch. Companies such as Mason Frank, Reser's Fine Food and Ledgent Technologies might just be your pathway to a more fulfilling career.

From our sponsor:

Last week, we told you about our new favorite non-alcoholic go-to — the refreshingly bitter drinks from our partners at Betera. They're chef-created from natural botanicals, lightly effervescent and worthy of life beyond "Dry January." We mentioned that their Ginger-Orange was excellent; we've since tried Elderflower-Lime and loved it as well — light and floral with the perfect amount of zing. We're converts.

Enough of you took Betera up on their 15% discount on first orders for Patch Daily readers that they've extended the offer for another week. Use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — try Betera here.
