- Beaverton Police Department reports on a DUII arrest following a single-vehicle crash on Friday night. The accident took place on the overpass of SW Allen Boulevard and Highway 217. Police say that no one was injured as a result of the crash. (Instagram)
- Click over to the Press Release Desk to read an open letter from Mayor Beaty in response to the verdict in the Rittenhouse Trial. In the document, the mayor remarks that the trend of using violence to showcase a message or to ostensibly protect a community is destined to have devastating effects. She also notes that a "not guilty verdict does not mean Rittenhouse is innocent."
- A burglary on SW Pacific Highway near the Highway 217 junction escalated quickly on Friday. Police say a man robbed a T-Mobile store then stole a car to get away. The same man later allegedly carjacked a Chevrolet Spark in Lake Oswego and stole a Subaru in Oregon City. Police were unable to locate the suspect, although they discovered a large amount of T-Mobile merchandise in one of the vehicles. (OregonLive)
- An Aloha veteran was awarded a new roof recently, thanks to a nationwide contest. Miah Washburn's military career extends over twenty years, with time in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army National Guard. Washburn says his roof had been leaking for nearly three years, resulting in a "rotted-out hole." Thanks to an actor friend Washburn met while performing in a show on veteran experiences at Portland State University, he was nominated and won the Beacon of Hope contest from Beacon Roofing Supply. - It's hard to dispute that Beaverton's downtown is awesome. Now, one of the brains behind the recent transformation is seeking to take his talents to City Council with a bid at the open seat, Position 2.
