Washington County Sheriff's officials say Brooke Shaver, 35, intentionally set fire to her Tanasbrook Condominium on Friday, Oct. 13.

BEAVERTON, OR — Washington County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Beaverton woman Friday after she intentionally set fire to her condominium, which also forced another person at the property to escape through a second-floor window.

Brooke Catherine Shaver, 35, was taken to the Washington County Jail on one charge of first degree arson. Her bail is set at $25,000.

Washington County Sheriff's officials said police and fire crews from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and the Hillsboro Fire Department responded to a residential fire at the Tanasbrook Condominiums in the 1500-block of Northwest Tanasbrook Court around 12:45 p.m. Oct. 13.

A man who was in the condo when the fire began was forced to escape the burning building through a second-floor window, police said. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Shaver reportedly fled the area before fire crews and police arrived, but deputies learned during their initial investigation the fire was likely set on purpose, police said.

Deputies searching the area eventually found Shaver about three-quarters of a mile from the condo, walking through a Safeway parking lot, police said. Shaver was unhurt.
