Best High School Athletic Program in the Country? Jesuit High School

That's the word from the website, MaxPreps.

Jesuit High School is not only really good when it comes to athletics, they are the number one program in the country, according to MaxPreps, the high school sports website.

Jesuit got the honor after racking up nine state championships over the past school year.

They were the champions in the Oregon School Activities Association 6A leagues in men's swimming, women's swimming, women's soccer, women's volleyball, football, men's tennis, women's track, softball and baseball.

By doing that, the school knocked Bentonville High School in Arkansas out of the top spot - where it had been the previous two years.

"We aren't just a basketball or football school -- those programs are great -- but we pride ourselves on being well rounded, on having depth in all our sports, including volleyball, swimming, tennis and so on," says Jesuit Athletic Director Mike Hughes.

This is not the first time that Jesuit has received national acclaim.

In 2010 MaxPreps named them number one and in 2007, Sports Illustrated had them as the top program in the country.

"We are fortunate to have coaches who are knowledgeable, fully committed to our mission, and who know how to get young people to buy in to a team-first ethic in a me-first world," said Principal Paul Hogan. "We have talented student-athletes who know that hard work will trump talent every time, especially in high school."
