Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- The Beaverton community is mourning for 13-year-old Milana Li, found deceased on Tuesday. Li was last seen Sunday and was later reported missing. Additional counselors will be on hand at Conestoga Middle School, where Li attended. Police are calling the death 'suspicious.' (KGW.com)
- Steve Phillips is back in the news. Phillips has just been hired to be the superintendent of the Newberg School District. Phillips resigned as deputy superintendent for the Beaverton School District in 2018 after some racist tweets, and, in 2019, he was terminated as the top executive in the Jewel School District for disagreements with the board. (KOIN)
- Students at Mountainview High school are "Mav-ing up," thanks to a rapping librarian. Jerome Nicolia, library assistant, has written a rap song to inspire and encourage students at the high school to participate and do their best. Hear the rap and see the story at this KGW link.
- The name has been released of the student driving in the April TV Highway crash that killed two Southridge High School students and injured three others. Police say that Xavier Denzel Rodriguez, 18, was the driver of the Nissan Altima that ran a red light, hitting a deputy's patrol car. Beaverton police and the Major Crimes and County Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Teams of the Washington County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the incident. (Beaverton Patch)
- Here are five Beaverton-area upcoming open houses ready for your inspection. Check out a polished vintage charmer in West Haven-Sylvan or a slightly less polished, but nonetheless vintage, charmer near Fanno Creek Greenway, plus many others. (Beaverton Patch)
