Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Beaverton High School's girls' soccer team earned accolades by the United Soccer Coaches. The organization released the latest fall high school girls' soccer rankings on Tuesday, with Beaverton snagging the fourth spot in the nation (the top three teams tied for first). Beaverton was previously unranked. (Soccerwire.com)
  2. The Tualatin Valley is targeted for premium pinot noir experiences by TravelAwaits, a periodical dedicated to travel for the over-50 set. Along with listing some exceptional regional wineries, the article points readers in the direction of the Beaverton Farmers Market, Ex Novo Brewing and a tour of historic downtown. There's also a nudge to pick up your Ale Trail Passport.
  3. It's a match made in PNW heaven: Powell's Books and Ex Novo Brewing have teamed up to create a limited-edition beer. The mashup has yielded "a lighter IPA with fruity notes," said to evoke both partner companies as well as the Portland community itself. Get your four-pack this upcoming Saturday at Powell's or either Ex Novo location. (KATU)
  4. Check out the latest from our libraries with this week's Washington County Community Library Services Newsletter. Highlights included a recap of the successful Aloha Community Library-led effort to provide underprivileged kids with school supplies and info about all the various languages served by the WCCLS website (12!!). Plus, the results are in from National Library Card Sign-Up Month, which was September: 1,952 patrons got a library card last month!
  5. Portland Community College is supporting the writer community with a writing residency program. It's the first residency of its kind in the nation to be sponsored by a community college. The program will operate near the Sylvania Campus. (Beaverton Patch)
