He's Killing Our Children! Mother's Screams Led to 911 Call in Beaverton

The mother's screams echoed through the hallway of the Redwood Creek Apartments by the intersection of Southwest Greenway Boulevard and Southwest Windmill Drive.

"He's killing our children!"

A neighbor heard and called 9-1-1. It was around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.

By the time they arrived, though, it was too late.

Lakalo Kawika Enfield, 36, had killed his six-year-old son Lakalo Vergara Enfield and his eight-year-old daughter Lehua Elaysea Enfield and then himself.

The children were first and second graders at Greenway Elementary in Beaverton, which activated its crisis response team Thursday morning. The students were new to the system this year.

Police say that they had been to the apartment the previous Thursday after a call about a domestic dispute. They interviewed the couple and discovered no signs of assault. Lakalo had agreed to leave the apartment.

That was the only visit to the apartment by police. Until Wednesday.
