The community is invited to help celebrate the grand opening of Mountainside HS and the groundbreaking of the new Hazeldale Elementary.

BEAVERTON, OR — Beaverton School District officials will host groundbreaking and grand opening ceremonies on the same day later this month to celebrate the start of construction on a new elementary school and the completed construction of a new high school.
To celebrate the opening of Mountainside High School on Beaverton's southwest-side, the district has invited the community to a grand opening and 5k Fun Run/Walk from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23. Located at 12500 S.W. 175th Ave., Mountainside is the district's sixth high school.
Boasting room enough for roughly 2,200 students, the 342,000-square-foot, $185 million facility has 53 general classrooms, five special education classrooms, 11 science classrooms, and Career and Technical Education workshops covering fields like carpentry, flex engineering/robotics, and culinary arts. Outside, the grounds offer eight tennis courts and four turf fields, including a football field with stands, a softball field, baseball diamond, and soccer field for the forthcoming Mountainside Mavericks sports teams.

On the same morning but roughly five miles to the north, district officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the next phase of a massive project to replace four of the district's schools.
Hazeldale Elementary School, 20080 S.W. Farmington Rd., is the second of the four schools set to be replaced as part of the district's $680 million voter-approved construction bond.
According to district officials, the current Hazeldale school building was constructed in 1942; it will be tore down and replaced with a 83,000-square-foot, two-story facility capable of housing 750 students. District officials expect the school will be ready for students by Fall 2018.
