Happy Wednesday, neighbors! Here's everything going on around town today.

First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 76 Low: 53.

Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Tech giant Apple has leased a 50k square foot office on the Sunset Corridor. Analysts mark the move as part of a trend in development in the suburbs rather than central Portland. (Portland Business Journal, subscription required)
  2. Accolades go to the furriest member of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, canine deputy Radar. The dog and his partner, Sgt. O'Reilley, tracked down an assault suspect over the weekend. The pair discovered Judith Bezzant, 35, hiding near Beaverton Creek, where she fled after allegedly hitting another woman with a hatchet. (KOIN.com)
  3. Kelcie Garcia reports on THPRD's struggles following the pandemic. Following pandemic closures, the regional parks org is understaffed and has large budget gaps. Neighbors who once frequented the community centers, pools and gym facilities now say they face changes in fees and accessibility. (Pamplin Media Group)
  4. More on the soon-to-open West End District from Portland Tribune: With 424 units, the mixed-use development will bring density, walkability and a "'Main Street' feel" to SW Murray at TV Highway. A variety of restaurants and retail will anchor the buildings, including Portland Cider Company's newest pub. (Pamplin Media Group)
  5. Hagg Lake has tested negative for toxic algae blooms. Oregon Health Authority tested the popular Washington County recreation spot when a pet fell ill and died earlier this month after swimming in the lake. (Washington County)
