Celebrate Beaverton Parade Application Deadline Is Aug. 11

The event highlights everything good about Beaverton by asking residents to reveal it all themselves. This will mark the event's 60th year.

BEAVERTON, OR — Are you a proud Beaverton resident? Would you like to express your Beaverton pride in a parade later this summer? If so, city officials ask that you apply today for your spot in the parade.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning with a 5k Fun Run, the city officials and thousands of Beaverton residents will gather together at Griffith Park from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the 60th annual Beaverton Celebration Parade. Since 1957, the parade and celebration has been an annual staple in the city, which has grown to more than 100 organizational participants each year, according to city officials.

This year's theme is "Be Green in '17," and parade officials are encouraging participants to incorporate sustainability, recycling, green energy, reducing waste, and otherwise environmentally friendly elements into any homemade parade floats. From using recycled materials to create a float, to opting to walk or bike instead of drive a vehicle, there are plenty of ways to make this year's parade more 'green,' city officials said in a statement.

Parade entry applications must be received by the end of business day Aug. 11. Click here to apply. There is no cost to participate, though each applicant must include a signed waiver and release form for photographs.
