🌱Community Remembers Sunset Alum + Irish Fiddler Visits Winona Grange

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Morning, people of Beaverton! It's me again, Ash DeMello, your host of the Beaverton Daily.

First, today's weather:

Rain and snow showers (wha?!). High: 46 Low: 35.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Sending condolences to friends and family of Amara Marluke, PSU shooting victim and graduate of Beaverton School District's Sunset High School. Police have arrested another PSU student and a former football player, Keenan Harpole, for second-degree murder in relation to Marluke's death. Marluke's memorial service was held Saturday, April 9. (KATU)
  2. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue showcased its skills Sunday morning at a two-alarm commercial fire in Newberg. Despite two hours of effort from the emergency response team, the building at 305 North Springbrook Rd. became a total loss. (KATU)
  3. Have a say in the future of Beaverton by filling out the survey available via the City of Beaverton website. Two major goals for this community outreach include maximizing public participation and ensuring representation from underrepresented communities. Click over to the article to learn about the importance of the survey and share your opinions.
  4. Read what happened at City Hall via Your Beaverton's April 7 edition. Among other things, Council discussed vertical housing zones, the celebration of Ramadan (April 2 through May 2) and the community visioning survey (see above!).
  5. Senator Jeff Merkley is seeking services for Ukrainian refugees. More than 7 million Ukrainians have been displaced since the Russian invasion, reports Troy Shinn. Merkley is seeking to bolster funding for support services like school counselors to accommodate the incoming refugees.
