Couple Wakes Up To Find Burglar Asleep On Their Bedroom Floor
Ervin Solomon, 64, was arrested by Washington County deputies for allegedly stealing cell phones and other items from the Cedar Mill home.

BEAVERTON, OR — A Portland man was arrested early Wednesday after a Cedar Mill couple woke to find him sleeping on their bedroom floor and several items from missing their home.
Ervin Ray Solomon, 64, was taken to the Washington County Jail on several charges, including first degree burglary, first degree theft, and felon in possession of a restricted weapon. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
Washington County Sheriff's deputies were reportedly dispatched to a residential burglary in the 100-block of Northwest 107th Avenue, near the Cedar Mill area, shortly before 4:45 a.m. Nov. 29. According to the caller, she and her husband woke up to find Solomon asleep on the floor in their bedroom.

Sheriff's spokesman Jeff Talbot said the couple called 911 as they were "escorting" Solomon out of their home, but that he was gone by the time they realized their cell phones, wallets, and a tablet computer were missing. To help officers find their stolen property, however, the couple had already activated the "Find My iPhone" GPS feature on their devices, Talbot said.
Tracking the phones through the GPS feature, officers — including a Beaverton police K9 team — reportedly found Solomon hiding underneath the porch of a nearby home around 5:20 a.m.

At the time of his arrest, Solomon was also in possession of jewelry and other items police believe were stolen from other people, Talbot said.
Solomon has a long criminal history in Oregon, stretching back to his first two burglary charges in 1991. In total, Solomon has been charged with 21 burglaries, including Wednesday's charge. Every one of those charges — aside from Wednesday's — took place in Multnomah County.
Solomon's criminal history also includes charges for harassment, menacing, assault, and possession of various controlled substances, such as cocaine.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office will begin working to determine the owners of all the stolen property it recovered, Talbot said.
