Developmentally Disabled Man Missing In Beaverton (Found)

BEAVERTON, OR — Officials at the Edwards Center called upon the community for help finding one of its employees Wednesday: Kevin Daugherty did not show up for work as usual, causing alarm among many who know him well, according to Edwards Center spokesman Joel Mosier.

(UPDATE 5:54 p.m. — Mosier told Patch that Daugherty was found safe shortly before 5:30 p.m.)

The Edwards Center in Beaverton is a social service provider for people with developmental disabilities, "helping them reach their highest potential through training, education, employment, housing and social opportunities in safe, healthy and stimulating environments," according to its website. Daugherty, who is also developmentally disabled, was supposed to arrive at work at 9 a.m., Mosier said, adding that Daugherty's behavior is typically predictable.

"There's no sign of endangerment, and we're a little early for a missing persons report … (but) anything out of the norm is not characteristic for him," Mosier said. "You could set a clock by his schedule."

Daugherty is described as a white male, 5-foot 8-inches tall and 165 pounds. He walks with a noticeable limp, and almost always wears glasses and a baseball cap. He lives in Hillsboro, Mosier said, but usually takes the bus to the Edwards Center located at 4375 S.W. Edwards Place.

"We checked his usual spots and called his family," Mosier said, noting that Daugherty's family is also currently looking for him. "He's very routine oriented, so this is out of character for him."
